We were treated to a fun-packed morning with Dita who really brought the story of the Hindu festival, Divali to life. We learned all about the characters of Rama, Sita, Hanuman and Ravana, the 10 headed demon and had a great time acting out the story. It was a real privilege to try on the amazing traditional clothing and handle the fascinating artefacts that Dita had brought all the way from India. After rehearsing the story, dance and a battle we performed the story of Divali to the whole school, who were very impressed. Well done to all the children who took part with such enthusiasm and a special thanks to Molly who took over a main part as Rama, with only minutes to spare!
Year 6 have been busy giving our reading area a makeover. We have separated the books into different genres and recommended different authors to each other. Our challenge is to read a wide range of different books (eg adventure, science fiction, poetry and non-fiction) There will be a prize for the first person to read 10 different genres and a special prize for the first person to read all the genres on the challenge sheet. So come on Year 6, step outside your reading comfort zone and try something new! Good luck.
Wow! It's been a brilliant few weeks for Maths with Molly achieving the full 72 out of 72 on the speed tests, Thomas getting 10 out of 10 for three weeks running on level 5 (the top level) and Caitlyn scoring the top mark in the Big Maths problem solving. A special mention goes to William who has made huge improvements to score 9 on level 4. Last Friday Ella got an amazing 10 out of 10 on level 5, whilst Iestyn scored full marks on level 4. Iestyn is also our top scorer on Sumdog with an amazing 1047 correct answers in the National competition. Will anybody catch him? Come on Year 6! Get playing at home and at school. We're in position 28 at the moment, let's see if we can climb the league table by Friday :-) Well done everyone, keep up the hard work, it's really paying off.
