We have been on regular Wellie Walks to discover and learn about the environment in both the school grounds and the surrounding area, which we all thoroughly enjoy. We have been using our senses to smell, hear and see lots of different things around us.
We went on a trip to Rockwool where we used our senses to smell different things, listen for sounds in the environment, find our way round blindfolded, and look for different colours in the forest. We also made homes for our little friends the animals that live in the woods.
We all love making and singing along to music and regularly put on little shows for our friends.
We love to experiment with different resources to make marks, create images and ‘invent’ things in our craft areas and I think we have some budding artists among us! Our work is then displayed in the class gallery for everyone to enjoy.
We have also been cooking, we have made porridge and turnip soup which we all tried and they were delicious!
Our Wizzy Wizard sessions are lots of fun, we love learning about mathematics! We get to dress up as wizards and practice our new skills.
Fred the Frog has been helping us to develop our speaking, listening, reading and writing. We have been doing Write Dance, Finger Gym and Dough Disco to help us to get ready for writing. We all have special books that we can write in whenever we want and we love filling them with stories, pictures and numbers. We have been listening to stories, songs, and rhymes and joining in with them! We are becoming more confident speaking in class, we enjoy retelling stories, acting them out, talking about our likes and dislikes and asking and answering questions. We hot seated Monty the Inventor from Monstersaurus and asked him lots of interesting questions.
We have been discovering the wonderful world of books and allowing our imagination and creativity run wild. We have been reading Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Jack and the Beanstalk, The Three Billy Goats Gruff, Monkey Puzzle, The Enormous Turnip, A Squash and a Squeeze, Monstersaurus, Peace at Last and many, many more books. We are very lucky to have a wide range of books to enjoy and you will often find us curled up in the corner or in the quiet of the tent reading a book or listening to a story on the listening centre or whiteboard.
We have two new additions to Nursery, two female gerbils which we have named Mickey and Minnie. We all like to feed them and clean them and watch them play together.
